Continuing our long tradition, Stanford Linguistics shone at this year's LSA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., from January 7 - 10. We've compiled a quick list of all the highlights from last week:

  • John Rickford gave a Presidential Address to open the 90th LSA Annual Meeting, delivering a well-attended, thought-provoking talk on "Language and Linguistics on Trial: Hearing Vernacular Speakers in the Courtroom and Beyond." You can tune into this video of his full talk online at this link and the live Twitter feed from during his address can be found here.
  • Eve Clark was inducted as a LSA Fellow.
  • Judith Tonhauser was awarded an early career award.
  • Annette D'Onofrio was awarded the student abstract award.
  • Many current and past Stanford affiliates gave talks and posters throughout the weekend, including during the Greenberg special session.
  • Many Stanford linguists past and present (including alums Eric Acton, Liz Coppock, Jason Grafmiller, Sarah Roberts, Rebecca Starr, and Steve Wechsler) held a Stanford get-together on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the LSA Annual Meeting.
