Master's for Stanford Graduate Students

Letters

We offer an M.A. degree for Stanford Ph.D. students who are interested in developing their knowledge of linguistics.

This is achieved through completion of courses, including coursework in an area of specialization within the field, and experience with independent research in Linguistics.

Only current Stanford Ph.D. students are eligible for this program.  

Matriculated Graduate Applicants

Ph.D. students in other Stanford departments must submit an entire application consisting of a statement of purpose, transcript, three letters of reference (these letters can be those used at time of application, sent over by the home department), a master's program proposal, and the name of an advisor within their home department.  

Deadline

The deadline for applications is January 21, 2025.  Submit all applications materials via email by the deadline to the Assistant Director of Student Services.
