Study – Degrees and Admissions
Robert Munro November 2nd, 2009
Our graduate program in linguistics emphasizes rigorous theoretical work that has at its base a solid empirical foundation in language data. Our program is primarily oriented towards the PhD degree, however the department occasionally admits students solely for the Master’s Degree and existing PhD students may apply for a Cognitve Science Designation or PhD Minor.
The undergraduate major stresses the study of language both as a fundamental human faculty and as a changing social institution. At the core of the program is a set of departmental courses on the nature of human language; in addition, the major draws on courses offered by other departments and programs.
