Stanford Linguists Receive HAI Seed Grants

Several department faculty have received 2022 Seed Research Grants from Stanford HAI, often with the active involvement of our PhD students.  The multidisciplinary grants are “designed to support new, ambitious, and speculative ideas with the objective of getting initial results.”  2022 projects include:

  • Chris Potts: “Inducing Interpretable Symbolic Structures in Neural Networks”
  • Dan Jurafsky: “Addressing Toxicity Online without Censoring Black Voices”
  • Judith Degen and Cleo Condoravdi: “Towards Clear, Transparent, and Scalable Computational Contract Technology”

All these projects have multiple PIs and only the department faculty PIs  for each one are noted above.
