Stanford linguists at NWAV 47

Our sociolinguists will be gone for the weekend -- at the Big Apple for the 47th New Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV) conference, hosted by New York University this year October 18-21:

  • John Rickford is presenting the Saturday Plenary talk "Class and Race in the Analysis of Language Variation and the Struggle for Social Justice: Sankofa".
  • Meghan Sumner, alongside her colleagues, will be workshopping "Computational Sociolinguistics".
  • Lewis Esposito and Chantal Gratton are presenting "Rhythm and the embodiment of physical practices".
  • Daisy Leigh is presenting "Expecting a performance: Listener expectations and social meanings in Tweets".
