Stanford linguists at NAACL 2018 and *SEM 2018
Several Stanford linguists and computer scientists will be traveling to New Orleans for this year's Annual Conference of the North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics (NAACL): Human Language Technologies, from June 1 to 6, 2018.
- Rob Voigt will be hosting a tutorial "Socially Responsible NLP," co-led with Yulia Tsvetkov and Vinodkumar Prabhakaran.
- Chris Potts and collaborator Nicholas Dingwall will present "Mittens: an Extension of GloVe for Learning Domain-Specialized Representations"
- Ziang Xie, Guillaume Genthial, Stanley Xie, Andrew Ng, and Dan Jurafsky will present "Noising and Denoising Natural Language: Diverse Backtranslation for Grammar Correction"
- Vinodkumar Prabhakran and collaborators Premkumar Ganeshkumar and Owen Rambow will present "Author Commitment and Social Power: Automatic Belief Tagging to Infer the Social Context of Interactions"
- Reuben Cohn-Gordon, Noah Goodman, and Chris Potts will present "Pragmatically Informative Image Captioning with Character-Level Inference"
- Sebastian Schuster and Chris Manning, with collaborator Joakim Nivre, will present "Sentences with Gapping: Parsing and Reconstructing Elided Predicates"
- Reid Pryzant, Kelly Shen, Dan Jurafsky, and Stefan Wagner will present "Deconfounded Lexicon Induction for Interpretable Social Science"
- Robin Jia, He He, and Percy Liang will be presenting "Delete, Retrieve, Generate: a Simple Approach to Sentiment and Style Transfer"
- Will Monroe and Chris Potts, with collaborators Jennifer Hu and Andrew Jong, will be presenting "Generating Bilingual Pragmatic Color References"
Collocated with the NAACL 2018 conference is the Seventh Joint Conference on Lexical and Computational Semantics (*SEM 2018), held June 5-6, 2018, where Chris Potts will be an invited speaker. His talk is titled "Linguists for Deep Learning; or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Neural Networks."
