Throughout the summer, plenty of Stanford linguists were featured in various national media outlets. Here's a recap of them in case you missed any!
- John McWhorter (Ph.D. 1993) was in the July 2016 Linguistic Society of America (LSA) member spotlight.
- Meghan Sumner was interviewed on a podcast "What Are Gender Barriers Made Of?" on Freakonomics Radio in July.
- Dan Jurafsky explained the concept of semantic bleaching in a New Yorker article "Love in Translation" in August.
- Chris Potts's co-authored paper "Fitting In or Standing Out? The Tradeoffs of Structural and Cultural Embeddedness," which will appear in the American Sociological Review, was featured in a Stanford Graduate School of Business article earlier this month.
- the Voices of California project was featured on KSBW Channel 8 News (look out for some screen time with Jeremy Calder!).
