Stanford linguists at EMNLP 2019

A group of Stanford linguists were halfway around the world this past week at the 2019 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing and 9th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing, which took place in Hong Kong, China. Posters and abstracts from Stanford include:

• "Posing Fair Generalization Tasks for Natural Language Inference" - Atticus Geiger, Ignacio Cases, Lauri Karttunen, and Chris Potts
• "TalkDown: A Corpus for Condescension Detection in Context" - Zijian Wang and Chris Potts
• "Integrating Text and Image: Determining Multimodal Document Intent in Instagram Posts" - Julia Kruk, Karan Sikka, Xiao Lin, and Ajay Divakaran (SRI International); Jonah Lubin (The University of Chicago); and Dan Jurafsky
• "Answering Complex Open-domain Questions Through Iterative Query Generation" - Peng Qi, Xiaowen Lin, Leo Mehr, Zijian Wang and Christopher D. Manning
