Five Stanford linguists will be representing the Cardinal at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Berkeley Linguistics Society this weekend:

  • Meghan Sumner will be delivering a plenary talk: "The benefit of idealized word pronunciations: How are forms we rarely hear, understood so easily?"
  • Lyle Lustingman will present "What do children use complements for? Representing speaker perspectives in recounting conversations"
  • James Collins will present "Word order and definiteness in Tagalog"
  • Judith Tonhauser (alum) will present "Speaker commitment in English and Paraguayan Guaraní attitude reports"
  • and Ashwini Deo (alum) will co-present "The structured individual hypothesis for processing aspectual verbs"
