From Phil Hubbard

We wanted to send best wishes to Phil Hubbard, who after 34 years at Stanford, will be retiring as Senior Lecturer and Director of English for Foreign Students (EFS).

Phil had been in Linguistics since 1986 until 2003 when the EFS was officially moved to the Language Center. However, Phil continued to remain involved with the Department, teaching Linguistics 191/291 (Linguistics and the Teaching of English as a Second/Foreign Language) annually as well as an accompanying seminar on computer-assisted language learning. Phil also regularly served on the Linguistics Undergraduate Studies Committee, helping support incoming linguists at the Department.

Retirement is not the only upcoming news for Phil, however. Phil will be marrying Dovie Wylie (Ph.D. '89), a Stanford Linguistics alumna, in August. Congratulations on the wonderful news to these two linguists.

We thank Phil so much for his time, dedication, and contributions to establishing our amazing community. We will miss you!
