Look Who’s Talking: Stanford Linguists on Resultatives

A recent workshop  titled “Resultatives: New approaches and renewed perspectives”, featured the work of several Stanford linguists.  The workshop was hosted by the National University of Singapore from March 20-22.

  • Alum Shiao Wei Tham (Ph.D. ’05) co-organized the workshop and presented a talk titled “Alternating and non-alternating resultatives in Mandarin Chinese.”
  • Beth Levin gave an invited talk, titled “The door punched open: An unusual English resultative construction.”
  • Alum Yo Matsumoto (Ph.D. ’92) co-presented a talk titled “Change of state and Japanese resultative constructions: A corpus-based study.”
