Alumnus Sven Lauer receives Emmy Noether grant from DFG

Congratulations to alum Sven Lauer, who has just received a prestigious Emmy Noether grant from the DFG (the German Research Foundation)! Sven was awarded the grant for his project "What is it to ask a question? --- A formal pragmatic investigation of interrogative force."

As described on the DFG's website, the Emmy Noether Programme supports researchers in achieving independence at an early stage of their scientific careers. Postdocs gain the qualifications required for a university teaching career during a DFG-funded period, usually lasting five years, in which they lead their own independent junior research group.

The Emmy Noether grants are very competitive and in past years have rarely been awarded to linguists.
