Alumnus Estigarribia receives NEH Fellowship for 2018

Congratulations to alumni Bruno Estigarribia (M.A. '05, Ph.D. '07) for being awarded a National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) Fellowship for 2018! He will be working on a project titled “Language and Indigeneity in a Global World: Guarani Spaces and Linguistic Decolonization in Paraguay," during which he will do fieldwork in Argentina and Paraguay to document current Guarani language practices and create the first digital archive of contemporary Guarani. Transcripts, audio, and video from interactional observation and sociolinguistic interviews will be hosted (with consultants’ consent) in a database that will be the first publicly accessible, fully searchable archive of any of the Guarani languages.
