Do You Hear What I Hear?: A Raciolinguistic Perspective on the Perceiving Subject
Please email for the Zoom link.
This presentation reconsiders pragmatist semiotic approaches to the study of linguistic perception by demonstrating colonially conditioned ways in which race and language become co-naturalized and overdetermined. By developing analytical strategies for examining these processes, it becomes possible to reconceptualize relationships between analyses of linguistic diversity and contestations of transhistorical power formations.
